My itinerary for Venice trip (26Aug)

Route (approximately)

Exit the station. To your left the Scalzi bridge allows you to cross the Grand Canal to reach the other shore. But you go to the right where you will find the Constitution Bridge, designed by Santiago Calatrava, a bridge of steel, glass and Istrian stone with guard rails of steel and glass. Go back to the station. You can choose whether to take the vaporetto line 1 that will allow you to see all the buildings overlooking the Grand Canal with a run to 6.50 € (get off at San Zaccaria and coming back) or walk to avoid the tour and enjoy the Venetian streets. Cross the bridge and go left to the church of St. Simon Small. After the church, turn left and go straight on Calle Santa Lucia ferry which becomes Calle Lacquer until you arrive at the School of S. Evangelist. Continue tenedovi on the right and you will arrive at the Campo dei Frari. From here continue to the Rialto Bridge. You'll have to keep on the left and get to the Campo San Polo Field Sant'Aponal and then go on to Campo San Silvestro. Walking along the canal you will come to the Rialto Bridge. Go up to the bridge and past this, towards San Marco. Once in the square, in front of you the Basilica, the Campanile, the Ducal Palace, and further, the Hard-Rock Café. Continue along the canal to see the Bridge of Straw. Climb up to see the Bridge of Sighs. Now, if you are tired, you can take the boat to return to the station. If not, go back to Rialto, cross the channel again with the bridge but this time changing itinerary. Keep to the right along the canal in order to photograph the Ca 'd'Oro. Go back towards the Frari and retrace the route up.
