Seconds to Decades

Since executing my new approach to stock picking I have now the time to do other things than just sitting and fix my eyes on the ticker. I have now the ease of leaving sometime my portfolio to do more immediate things.

My picks are basically giving me enough time to accumulate..at my own price..at my own time considering few factors
-Understand Financial statement and make records Quarterly
-In accumulating (attack while no one is looking)
-value as per my evaluation is not yet priced in
-and "catalyst" is still far

*as I have disclosed earlier my new approach is still in the trial and error mode...but my picks are showing color that please my eyes- Green
and I'm still holding...

In view of investing, I have started to organize my tree planting on my lot. I choose to fill up the big parcel of the lot with mahogany trees and the remaining with 3 other types of hardwood, which I forgot the "Visayan" name. To realize the value of investing in tree planting will take at least a decade or two. So different to investing stint I have with stocks when profit may be realized even for a second...

Well, every passing seconds in tree planting features positive growth and, as we all know however, will take decades.

but stocks in seconds..

New approach

Applying my newest approach to investing..
I wonder why some people  has something to talk about a certain stock. All we need to do is to read and understand financial statement.
I cannot say for now if this approach is right for me, but so far stock picks are green.
Heard from my wife..You don't bet?
NO Guts, NO Glory.

Tanduay Rhum

I have a Russian friend before who was so well versed about liquor. Being a Russian, drinking liquor is common and it helps a lot specially during very cold weather. I got so intrigued of liquor stuffs when our company, under special circumstance, allowed to cater free liquor from one of the restaurant in Genova, Italy. That was also the time i introduced my body with different liquor just for the hell to say I have tasted them all- only which are served for free. and it went for 6 long months!
One question I have raised to him during our chit chat was, what is his favorite liquor? A seemingly innocent answer was, "ah ..that's like a water to me..it's vodka, of course"
And the second best?
a burst of laugh before he responded..
It's Tanduay Rhum from your country, he divulged.

Well, Tanduay in my impression is the liquor of the masses in my country. I have seen it many times served in fiesta were old men are known to always seek for its taste. And I never have any recollection to have bought a Tanduay Rhum for a party or a drinking session.

Now back in Philippines, I was intrigued by my Russian friend when all the while a better liquor, if not the best, is in Philippines.
So I asked my friends if they don't mind I buy Tanduay ( 5 yrs..the one in a package) and just try for a taste of magic.

So timely as well to have a toast of Tanduay when I have successfully applied my MARC shares for stock certificate upliftment. Now MARC will be there with me through ups and down. A toast for MARC!

INfO:
COL Financial stock certificate upliftment will take at least 3 months before owner can claim the certificate.
I went to COL office to fill up a form and a card (signature specimen) just for 5min. Fee of less than 200php is deductible  from COL account.
Subject shares will be taken out from portfolio 3 days from application.

one gulp of Tanduay..
and another..

PD no TDY shares
..only PRIM and WEB (positively moving) and few more to disclose soon  =)

I wonder who the sole COL pusher of MIH was? hmmm

52nd week low stocks

Two other stocks picks presented opportunities to have me buy in. It was hard for me to resist that current price have dipped to its 52nd week low "again" today!  Needless to say, their respective low is the psychological support:

52nd week high             52nd week low       Current price
MRC                      0.46                            0.1720                 0.1740
EG                        0.23                            0.038                   0.038

Many hated and feared these stocks and seemed now to be ridiculed. The downtrend is obvious but the forces for a rebound is all the more coveted. I am counting on that.
We have 250 days of trading in a year, to estimate..
Of all these days, I was able to buy them at their lowest...gladly not in their peaks!
I bought them for a play if my different approach will serve me right. I would rather hate to advise someone to buy.

Technically they are good buys when they are relatively cheaper than months ago, however fundamentally dreaded.

I welcome them to give me a hell of a day's trade.

when it rains, it pours

I started my day trade late in the morning for an important errand. An errand that lightens my pocket.
The sky was overcast and a shower was in sight. time check 9:30am..Recollecting my picks..SGI and PRIM...all is well. I can leave them for awhile.
...and off I went.

SGI was all time the same maneuver...the forces don't want to move the price just yet. It doesn't go above 1.43 nor go below 1.40..it's a good sign for me. Stabilizing a certain base to take off. I still have my expectation of a rally from 1.50 with volume. I can sell at 1.60 with a hefty profit but higher than that is more favorable...depends on the circumstance over which I still have a control.

PRIM...if not from a distinguish trader and a blogger himself whose worthy of my attention I could not have put my money into this stock. The way he sees things helps me find out more opportunities and makes my mind fly to the ends of what my mind desires until I conceive that there are good things somehow what he is talking about PRIM. To cut short, I have PRIM same rationale as to why he also have. To add:
PRIM is 80% owned by MPI
who chaired MPI? ....MVP! you do the math
I have PRIM since Feb.

I encourage everyone to follow his blog as he does not only teach WHAT to trade but WHY? and showing how in trading can teach us to even apply to our simple daily undertakings (when many dealt it complicated) thus bringing out the better, if not the best, in you.

Although PRIM eventual action is delayed, I guess this will be a good chance to slowly accumulate when the company is very transparent in their plans through the release of disclosure:

In reply to your letter dated June 20, 2012, below is the latest update on the plan of Prime Media Holdings, Inc. (PMHI) to bring its stockholders' equity from negative to positive. ". . .Prime Media Holdings, Inc. continues to pursue its plan of cleaning up its books and the transfer of assets to PDIC/BSP as new investor's interest will only follow upon successful completion of activities. Prior to a possible equity infusion from new investors, activities are estimated to have the following impact on the capital deficiency: Capital Deficiency as of March 31 2012 (P853 million) Clean-up of books 133 million Conversion of intercompany advances to equity 631 million Net Capital Deficiency (89 million) Net Capital Deficiency will be reduced to a more manageable level of only P89 million which would make it attractive to possible investors to acquire the listed shares and infuse fresh capital to reverse the negative equity position. . ." Please note that the company's ability to raise new capital by pursuing discussions with third party investors highly depend on completion of the clean-up of the books and transfer of the assets assigned to PDIC and BSP. The transfer of the assets to PDIC and BSP requires more time than anticipated due to causes beyond our control. Processing of documents in government offices such as the BIR, Assessor's office and Registry of Deeds has taken longer than projected. Barring any unforeseen events or developments we hope to accomplish the updated plan by first quarter of 2013.
